I have a passion for doing Real Estate Appraisals!
I learned the real estate appraisal industry in 1980 from a client and a mentor, who I met while selling cooperative resort units in Montauk, New York. He showed me all the old tricks and trades of appraising older homes or difficult properties. I enjoyed the analytical work as compared to the sales of real estate so much that I began working for independent fee appraisers (including my mentor) throughout Westchester, Rockland, Nassau, and Suffolk Counties, in NY.
In 1990, I moved to San Francisco, CA, where I started my own independent fee appraiser shop, named Barbieri Coast Appraisals, Inc. The office was located over the original Barbary Coast (coincidente?). There is where I rocked! I had 5 appraisers working for me, and the cookie cutter towns that I had orders in let me do up to 5 inspections a day. It started to slow down in 1995, and I moved back to New York. This time, I lived in Montauk, operated a Resort, and did appraisals for tax surciary purposes.
In 2005, my family migrated to Florida, where I have been everything in the Real Estate Industry. I was a property manager, a rental agent, a broker, a CAM, and a Certified Residential Appraiser. I was bummed because I was 40 hours short of taking the General Certified Appraiser license. Oh well---I still can do these types, if the opportunity rolls around??
So here I am, an experienced appraiser ready to be busy. Bring the orders on. I'm ready.
